Black Tudor Gown (Anne Boleyn)

Completed April 25th, 2010. Review posted on PatternReview.com

This costume is inspired by garments worn during the Tudor period (such as Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour or Henry VIII's other wives would have worn). It consists of an underskirt, gown, and undersleeves which tie into the gown. One of the advantages of this pattern is that the underskirt and foresleeves (made of silver fabric) are separate from the gown, which means that I can switch them out for a different set, effectively creating a new gown without doing a huge amount of work. I did not make the French Hood, but I plan to do so when I have time. I will also need to make the correct underpinnings (using Simplicity 2621 for shift, farthingale, bum roll and corset).
