Time Travel Costumes: 1940s Christmas Dress (Butterick 5209)

I needed something special to wear to a harp concert this year, so I made this evening gown in black satin and red asian-style brocade. I wanted to give the illusion of wearing a shoulder wrap without actually having to hassle with carrying one around, so I cut the back and shoulders from the red brocade and left the rest in solid black.
