I begged my grandmother to make my first cloak when I was ten; I made my first Renaissance Faire costume when I was eleven (it was awful, of course!). My costuming skills have improved a bit since then, and I have certainly had a lot of fun creating unique gowns and costumes for myself and my clients.
Over the years I have owned and made many cloaks (not that they see much of the light of day now that I live in Florida!). I really love cloaks; they’re versatile and classy, and it’s really a shame that they’ve gone out of style in this century. I wear mine anyway whenever I get the chance, and my son (who is nearly five) wears his constantly.
My favorite thing to do recently is to create historically inspired wedding gowns; hours of pouring over bridal magazines and websites convinced me that the options readily available to a bride are simply too limited. For this reason, I began experimenting with historical patterns, and I discovered that a huge array of options exists in antique designs which are entirely overlooked in today’s bridal and evening wear designs. (Feel free to visit my wardrobe to see what I’ve created so far!)
It really does make me happy to see one of my outfits worn and loved. I hope that you will allow me to be a part of your special day or costumed event, by choosing to wear a custom garment that we have worked together to design as an exact fit for your needs.
